TANK ACADEMY ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the TANK ACADEMY mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

We collect the following types of information:

Account Information

• Email address (used for login and account recovery)
• Password (stored securely and encrypted — we never see your plain-text password)
• Name (if provided during signup)

Health & Fitness Data

• Body measurements you choose to log (weight, waist, hips, glutes, thighs, chest, arms)
• Progress notes and personal observations you enter
• Workout completion data
• Nutrition preferences and daily calorie targets you set
• Water intake logs

Payment Information

• Payments are processed securely by PayFast. We do not store your card details.
• We receive confirmation of successful payment only.

Technical Data

• Device type and operating system (for compatibility and bug fixing)
• App usage data (screens visited, features used — anonymised)

How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

• To create and manage your account
• To provide access to programmes and content you have purchased
• To store and display your progress tracking data
• To personalise your nutrition plans and calorie targets
• To process and verify payments
• To send important account-related communications (e.g. purchase confirmations, password resets)
• To improve the app experience based on usage patterns
• To provide coach dashboard functionality if you are a TANK ACADEMY coach

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the Service.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted database and authentication provider. All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS and encrypted at rest.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your account password is hashed and salted — it is never stored in plain text, and we cannot retrieve it.

Sharing of Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: We use Supabase (database), PayFast (payments), and Expo/Firebase (app infrastructure). These providers process data only as necessary to operate the Service and are bound by their own privacy policies.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request.
• Coach Access: If you are a client of a TANK ACADEMY coach, your coach may have access to your progress data and check-in information through the coach dashboard.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Deletion: You may request that we delete your account and all associated data. To request deletion, contact us at the email below.
• Portability: You may request an export of your personal data in a common format.
• Objection: You may object to how we use your data by contacting us directly.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details provided at the end of this policy. We will respond within 30 days.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Anonymised, aggregated usage data may be retained indefinitely for the purpose of improving the Service.

Children's Privacy

The TANK ACADEMY Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete that information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are made constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users via email or an in-app notification.
